I am a board-certified pediatrician and have practiced on the Western Slope of Colorado for 17 years.  I graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 1998 and completed my residency at the University of Colorado and Children’s Hospital in Denver.  I practiced with The Pediatric Associates in Montrose, CO and at Delta Pediatrics in Delta, CO. Before my children were born, I saw patients once a month out of Dr. Roger Sherman's office here in Crested Butte, initially as Dr. Bruce and later as Dr. Sanderford.  I have also provided coverage for Pediatric Associates of Durango in the past.

I live here in Crested Butte and have three children at Crested Butte Community School, two grown step-children, and two grand-children.

How I Got Here

I grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA and attended an all-women's college, Agnes Scott, before being accepted into Emory University School of Medicine. After medical school, I knew I wanted to do my residency "Out West" and was fortunate enough to get a spot in the program of my choice in Denver.  I then accepted a position with the National Health Service Corps to receive loan repayment in exchange for practicing in an underserved area.  I took a job with The Pediatric Associates in Montrose and practiced there for six years.  During that time, one of the other providers in the practice introduced me to my husband, Kevin, who lived in Montrose.  I briefly tried staying home with my kids when the first baby came along, but was quickly rounded up to work in Delta, Colorado where there was only one other pediatrician.  I practiced with Delta Pediatrics for the next 7 years.  My husband and I were second home owners in Crested Butte for a few years and in 2015 made the leap to enroll our kids in school here and find a way to live in Crested Butte.  I knew there was a need for a pediatrician in the county and set out to find a way to see patients......and here we are.  I am grateful to be able to balance my work caring for children with the needs of my own family and to live in this amazing place.
